Thanks so much to everyone who was able to join us on Wednesday February 24th! We deeply appreciate your excellent participation and your enthusiastic, grateful response to our presenters, Opal and Correena! We, at Faith, have been so blessed by the time and talents that Correena and Opal have so generously dedicated to helping us learn and look more deeply into our own hearts concerning matters of racial justice and prejudice. It is extremely important for us not to take their generosity for granted.
As Eric Nycamp (bio here) expresses in the panel discussion linked below, “Many people of colour have dedicated their lives to help white people understand. It is not every Black person who wants to be a private tutor.” In our predominately white church, he challenges us to “do our own heavy lifting” in regards to understanding and bringing about racial justice in our own hearts and minds and in our institutions. If you are not sure what that means, consider watching the recording; I found it very helpful! And catching the April 23rd event could be some of your own “heavy lifting!”
