Sermon Questions for Reflection and/or Discussion, May 12, 2024
Series: Our Anniversary – “Forty … and Then What??”
Acts 1:1-14, “Forty Days and Then… WAIT!”

1. Opening: Describe a time when you had to wait for something that you were very excited to receive or experience.

2. Like any of us in crisis, the disciples feel the pull toward urgent action (see v.6) and nostalgia or paralysis (see v.10-11). But instead they “wait” as Jesus commands (v.4), praying together (v.14). Talk about how the disciples felt after Jesus ascended. Describe the circumstances of their prayer (v.12-14). What do you think they prayed about?

3. Why is waiting hard for us?

4. What is beneficial for a church in setting aside a season for waiting and prayer? What value might this kind of active waiting have for someone personally?

5. In these next 40 days, what will you pray for, for yourself, for your loved ones, or for Faith Church? Close by praying some of these prayers together.
