Series: Acting in God’s Drama: What’s my Role in the Story?
Genesis 1-2 (selections), “Act 1: Creation”
- If you have not yet met this fall: Start off by sharing about your summertime. Perhaps focus on a high and a low, and/or discuss, “How have you seen God at work in or around you this summer?”
- Go around the circle twice, each person saying one thing, without repeating what was said before. First round: what’s one thing God created that makes you say ‘wow!’? Second round: what’s one thing God created that makes you laugh?
- Optional – have members share one or more recent photos that help you to celebrate God’s work in creation.
- What’s important to you about the Creation story in Genesis 1-2? That is, which aspects of this story feel most significant to you? Why?
- It is argued that in order to function well in Act 5 of God’s Drama, we need to learn what came before (readhttps://www.biblica.com/livingthescript/a good explanation of this concept). Talk about how Act 1 (Genesis 1-2) shapes your understanding of who you are and how you live your life. Did you learn something new this week? What’s one thing you will take from this discussion related to your way of being and doing?
- Consider rereading together the Creation section ofOur World Belongs to God,paragraphs 7-12 – find it online at https://www.crcna.org/welcome/beliefs.
- If you haven’t yet done so, discuss how you want your group to function this fall. Consider whether you might reach out to a new individual, couple, or family to join your group. (ContactMichelle@faithcrc.cafor suggestions.)
