Discovery Classes at Faith Church

This spring we are offering four different Discovery Classes, opportunities for connection and learning! These classes are open to everyone at Faith, and you’re also welcome and encouraged to invite friends, family members, or neighbours, no matter where they are in their faith journey. These classes will take place at the church on Sunday evenings starting April 27 from 7:30 to 8:30 or 9 PM. The sign-up form will be emailed out next week.

1. Managing Money (Rob S) – The CAP Money Course is a revolutionary money management course that teaches people budgeting skills and a simple, cash-based system that really works. This course will help anyone to get more in control of their finances, so they can save, give and prevent debt. The CAP Money Course is a course devised by the award-winning debt counselling charity, Christians Against Poverty. Course is four weeks: April 27, May 4, May 11, May 25.

2. Art and the Life of Faith (Heather d H) – Participants will be led in simple art projects (no skill or gifts required!) that demonstrate how art can function to deepen our relationship with God. Art can make us more aware of the Holy Spirit within us and around us. Art can be a form of prayer. Art connects us to gifts of hospitality and service and love. Course is two weeks: May 11, May 25.

3. Communication for Leaders, Coaches, and Parents (Ron M) – Communication is a gift from God. How do we honour God through our conversations with others and even with ourselves? Participants will learn the importance of a curious posture for meaningful conversations. We will also discuss and practice skills and processes to facilitate meaningful, uplifting, and transformative conversations. This class is for anyone seeking richer parent-child relationships, deeper small group experiences, and safe, honouring conversations that grow the Body of Christ. Course is three weeks: April 27, May 4, May 11.

4. The Reformed Accent (Pastor Cara) – What does it mean to be Reformed? This question can be tough to answer, even for elders, deacons, and pastors! Participants will explore the Reformed “accent” of Christianity through three key questions: What do we believe (doctrinalist)? How do we experience God in our daily walk of faith (pietist)? And how do we relate the gospel to the world (transformationalist)? Course is three weeks: April 27, May 4, May 11.
