Sermon Questions – April 27, 2025
Series: Everyday Stories for Everyday People
Text: Mark 4:1-20
Title: The Parable of the Sower

1. What is your favourite thing about gardening? (or least favourite?)

2. Consider the 3 soils that were unproductive. Which one do you most relate to?
a. Can you share a time when your soil was hard, stoney or full of thorns?
OR…
b. Is there something today that is causing your soil to be hard, stoney or thorny?

3. What does it mean to you when Jesus says: “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

4. Read Isaiah 55:10-11 together:

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
and do not return to it without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Marian summarized this by saying “The Word does the work”.
Can you share how the word has been working in your life or someone else’s?

5. Jesus says the Word is the seed. What are the ways that you find helpful to engage the Word?
Can you share some resources with your Home Church group or your family?

6. Take some time to consider if God is inviting you to make a new commitment to engage with
God’s Word in the days to come. Share if appropriate.

7. Close with a time to pray for one another for the week to come.
