Title: One Good Fear and the Gift of Joy

  • Imagine yourself in the scene with Mary and Elizabeth (v.39-45). What do you see, hear, smell, taste, feel? What emotions do you experience?
  • Talk about “the fear of the LORD” (see v.50). Consider using a concordance or Google search to find other references to this foundational Biblical concept. How does Mary’s song demonstrate fear of the LORD, related to (1) posture and (2) practice?
  • What are ways that we at Faith Church, and you personally, can cultivate the healthy posture of fearing God?
  • As you think about practicing the fear of the LORD, are you inspired by someone’s example? Who lives this well?
  • What does this passage (and/or Pastor Cara’s message) teach you about cultivating joy in your life?
