Ron Vanden Brink
SCRIPTURE: John 7: 12-13 & 25-29
DATE: Sept 21, 2025
What does Jesus look like?
1. Memorable Mentors:
Think about a teacher, mentor, or coach who had a significant impact on your life. What made them so memorable and what was their most important lesson?
2. Looking Back on the Message:
Ron mentioned a few passages (Psalm 121, John 4, Luke 10, John 13, etc.) that kept showing up in his preaching. Which of those passages stands out most to you, and why do you think it continues to speak powerfully today? Also share one other Bible passage that has deeply shaped your life.
3. Seeing Jesus in Unexpected Places:
The sermon asked, “What does Jesus look like?” Can you recall a time when you unexpectedly “saw Jesus” in a person, a place, or a specific situation? What was that experience like for you?
4. Barriers and Surprises:
Jesus often broke cultural, social, and religious barriers to show God’s love. What kinds of barriers do you think keep us from recognizing Jesus today, or from sharing His love with others?
5. Living as Apprentices of Jesus:
If people can “see Jesus” through us, what do you think that means for your everyday life—at home, at work, or in your neighbourhood?
6. The Challenge – Moving Outward:
Ron challenged us to walk, drive, or pray through our neighborhoods and ask, “How does Jesus see the people and places I’m seeing right now?”
What is one small, practical step you could take this week to “see and show Jesus” in your community?
How could your group take a step together?
· What are some new steps you and your group could take during the next Service Worship Sunday to continue this challenge?
