Text: Nehemiah 4
Title: In the Face of Opposition
1. “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.” How did that childhood taunt affect you? What teasing and name-calling actually did get to you? How did you deal with ridicule from your nemesis?
2. Why was Sanballat so opposed to Nehemiah’s efforts? What are the weapons that he uses against the Jews? How effective were these taunts in slowing down the work?
3. Nehemiah faced much opposition. Where do Christians face opposition today? Or where do you personally feel opposition in your desire to do devotions, or to live out your Christian walk? Can you share an example?
4. Nehemiah was a man of prayer. What surprises you about his prayer? What does the phrase, “remember the Lord” mean to you? How can you help one another remember the Lord?
5. Nehemiah challenged his people to fight for their families. Is there a way we can fight for each other, or for our church family together? How can we pray for one another?
6. Is there a big dream, or a holy ambition that God has placed on your heart, or the heart of the people of Faith Church? What might that be? Share some dreams together. Take some time to pray together – pray for your families, and for your church family. Also pray for God’s holy ambition for you or our church.
