1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
1. How do you feel about surprises? In your experience, is surprise often connected with joy and excitement? Or more uncertainty and confusion?
2. What comes to mind when you think of preparing your mind, heart, and body to being ready for Christ’s return? What thoughts, and feelings does this evoke?
3. Why do you think people want to know exactly when Christ will return? Do you want to know? Why or why not?
4. What does it mean for you to live in the Light? What are the warning signs when you realize the lights are starting to dim?
5. What distracts you from focusing on Jesus and accessing the Holy Spirit?
6. What practices allow you to keep your focus on Jesus? What would you like to do more of? What does it feel like for you to feel connected deeply with Jesus? Think of a visual, image or metaphor that can possibly capture the thought and idea.
7. What’s beautiful about living in a Christ-centred community? What’s hard?
8. Throughout the series on Thessalonians, there is an emphasis on community and living out our faith together on this journey. How is this going for you? What help do you need? Why is asking for help so hard for so many people?
