2 Samuel 6, “The Practice of Celebrating”
Theme: God invites us to celebrate his presence and work, drawing us into further awareness of his abundant goodness, creativity, faithfulness, beauty, and love.
- Opening: Talk about a memorable celebration in your life. What made it memorable?
- What do you learn about celebrating from the story of David, either this episode (2 Sam 6) or other aspects of his life?
- Where and when and how are you most likely to celebrate God’s presence and work? Alone or with others? In worship? In music? In nature? As you engage Scripture? Or other? What does this tell you about how God made you and how you most naturally meet with him?
- Conversely, what challenge(s) do you encounter in the Practice of Celebrating? If you were to have a conversation with Jesus about these challenges, how might he respond? (This might be an opportunity for your group to gently speak encouragement and wisdom into your life.)
- What is one way you might incorporate Celebrating *as a faith practice* into your life this week?
