Sermon Questions – May 24, 2026
Series: Songs for the Journey
Text: Ezekiel 37:1-14
Title: Graves into Gardens
Invited: Share about a time when you felt most physically alive.
Loved: How does Profession of Faith Sunday at Faith Church make you feel? As someone who does (or doesn’t) follow Christ? As a member (or not) of Faith Church?
Shaped:
- In Ezekiel 37, God indicates that the exiles in Babylon are saying, “Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off” (v.11). What are some of the questions and doubts they may have been experiencing? Have you ever felt “dried up” or been full of questions like the exiles? Share your experiences.
- In what ways would God’s message in Ezekiel 37:1-14 be good news to the exiles?
- Read the lyrics of “Graves into Gardens” and talk about how it resonates with your life or with stories you’ve heard from others. How is God still turning “graves into gardens” or “bones into armies”?
- The vision of the dry bones concludes with “a vast army” (v.10). What does this image imply? In what ways does God invite the church to function as an army? (do aspects of the ‘army’ metaphor not apply?)
Sent: Have you ever shared your faith publicly, in church or elsewhere? Talk about your experiences. What was the occasion / reason? How did it feel? What was the result? If you haven’t done so, consider why not. Pray together about the call to be Spirit-empowered participants in God’s work this week.
