Sermon Questions for Reflection and/or Discussion, November 26, 2023
Series: What the Spirit Says
Text: Revelation 3:14-22
Title: “Church, Let Me In!”

1. Opening: Share a story of being left outside, literally or figuratively (could be humorous or painful).

2. What are Jesus’ words of complaint to the church in Laodicea? What does he mean? Which of these complaints seem most relevant to your life or to the realities of Faith Church?

3. As usual, Jesus’ follow-up to his complaints is “Repent!” Remind yourselves what repentance means. In the context of the complaints discussed in #2, what might repentance look like for the Laodiceans? For Faith Church? For you?

4. If Jesus were to show up at Faith Church, where would he hang out? What about your home? Think of all the ways Jesus has described himself in these seven letters — what might he look like showing up for you? (Is this imagination exercise helpful, or too weird?)

5. We’ve come to the end of this series on Revelation 2-3. Thanks for engaging! Take some time before you close in prayer to consider what stands out most from this series, how the Spirit has been speaking to you, to your group, to Faith Church. I’d be glad to hear your reflections! ~ Pastor Cara

Thanks again to Jeffrey Weima (The Sermons to the Seven Churches of Revelation) and Darrell Johnson (Discipleship on the Edge), as well as BEMA Podcast, for their consistent insights into these two chapters. ~ CDH
